Asus A53U XE1 Laptop Review Specs and Price

new Asus A53U-XE1
Asus has new laptop named as Asus A53U-XE1. The A53U-XE1 which powered by features a dual core processor, so you should not be confused with the 1GHz. This really means this machine does have a 2GHz processor. This machine is obviously not a fastest computer, but way faster than my previous HP notebook I have used for 3 years. This Asus notebook has loads of preinstalled bloatware or manufacturer’s softwares, but I managed to uninstall them, including the preloaded Antivirus, and installed my trusted antivirus software, and also Microsoft Office 2010, and it runs great. Performance wise, this 15.6 inch laptop got a 3.9 due to its processor performance, and it is decent for me, and I guess for most basic computer users, this is more than sufficient. The details related to the specs of the device are discussed below.Asus A53U-XE1

New Asus M50 15 4 inch Multimedia Laptop

New Asus M50 / 15.4-inch Multimedia Laptop
Asus : Its nice to know that in all the excitement surrounding the Eee PC Asus hasnt forgotten that there other other types of notebook other than itty-bitty-teeny-weeny-ultra portable ones. Indeed, its latest offering, the M50, could be considered the complete antithesis of such sub-notebooks, focussing instead, as it does, on performance and multimedia playback.

A quick look at the specs confirms these thoughts, with the option of a Blu-ray drive being the big hitter. Unfortunately, the 15.4-inch screen lets things down slightly as the maximum resolution is only 1,680 x 1,050 (with 1,440 x 900 and 1,280 x 720 options also available), which is far short of the Full HD figures of 1,920x1,200. That said, assuming the screen is of decent quality, watching HD movies should still be a pleasure.

Adding to the media pretentions is a dual-function touch pad that doubles up as a set of multimedia controls - which incidentally glow when activated. Also on the plus side are speakers supplied by Altec Lansing, backed up by Dolby Home Theatre audio processing.

More internally, the usual range of Core 2 Duo processors is available, including T7-series (Merom, 65nm) and T9-series and T8-series (Penryn, 45nm) options. Memory wise, up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 is available and graphics options include the 512MB nVidia GeForce 9500M GS, 256MB AMD ATI Radeon HD 3450, or the 1GB Radeon HD 3650. All of these offer each respective manufacturers video processing, which improve video quality and offload Blu-ray and other video decoding from the CPU - saving on battery life and system resources.

Availability and pricing information isnt known yet but Asus doesnt usually announce new products too far ahead of launch so expect the wait to be no more than a few weeks. Given the similar target market, pricing is going to want to be somewhere in the region of Acers Gemstone Blue. Well just have to wait and see, though.

Review Asus N53SV 16 inch Laptops

Review Asus N53SV 1.6-inch Laptops
The Asus N53SV is a speedy 15.6-inch laptop thats definitely an all-purpose machine as it has a broad range of features and the speed to back it up. Youll find all of the necessary connectivity options, including USB 3.0 and eSATA. However the design of the keyboard is rather frustrating and leaves us scratching our heads in confusion.

The Asus N53SV measures 15.6 x 10.6 x 1.6-inches and weighs just about 6.5-pounds, which makes it rather large and almost a desktop replacement machine, but not quite. The chassis of the laptop is a flat-gray color that looks and feels quite well.

Asus : designed the keyboard and mouse touchpad to have quite a bit of space, which makes for a comfortable experience, until you try to work with the custom keyboard layout they used. The cursor keys are oddly placed and as a result, the right shift key is extremely short in width. Also, Asus toyed with the location of frequently used keys, like the Delete button, which is in a very non-traditional location. While these quirks are not major, they are quite challenging to get used to.

The 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen has a native resolution of 1366 x 769-pixels, which qualifies as 720p high-definition. The screen quality was quite good and delivered excellent viewing angles.

One of the selling points that Asus is using for this laptop is the Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio technology that is inside the N53SV laptop. Audio quality was pretty good too, especially in the loudness category and it sounded crisp and clear as well. It wasnt anything "mind blowing", but it certainly did the job.

In terms of connectivity, youll find three USB ports (one is USB 3.0), eSATA, gigabit ethernet, VGA-out, HDMI-out, a 5-in-1 memory card reader and the usual audio ports. There is also integrated 802.11b/g/n wireless with Bluetooth V3 connectivity. There is also a built-in TV tuner that supports both analog and DVB-T signals.

The internal specifications of the Asus N53SV include a very powerful Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU (2.0GHz), 4GB of DDR3 memory (upgradable to 16GB), a 750GB 7200RPM hard drive, a DVD super multi dual-layer optical drive, Nvidia GeForce GT 540M video card with 1GB of dedicated RAM and a 2.0-megapixel webcam. Asus pre-loads Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) onto this laptop.

We really liked the combination of a powerful Intel processor with 4GB of RAM and a powerful video card. This trio gives you ultimate performance from a laptop and especially from a 15.6-inch laptops as opposed to larger notebooks with 17-inch displays. The 750GB hard drive is of the speedy 7200RPM type, which means you get lots of storage space thats also readily accessible for smooth performance.

The Nvidia GT 540M video card allows you to play todays demanding 3D video games with ease and the Asus N53SV does just that. You definitely wont be let down in the performance category with this notebook and that makes it well-worth the moderately-priced price tag.

Asus does include a lot of their customized software on this laptop, but they do give you some pretty handy programs too, like a Live Update application to make sure your computers drivers are always up-to-date. They also pre-install Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition, which is an ad-supported version of Word and Excel.

ASUS N10J A1 QUICK REVIEW

Revolution in design - The Asus N10J A1

The N10J A1 in literal terms is called the notebook for the corporate. Apart from offering the standard features present in all the notebooks it packs in additional features like dedicated graphics and a very up market fancy design to go with it. To top it all, the N10 works on Intel Atom platform, making the processing speed much faster and option of navigating through multi windows simultaneously without much of an effort.

The design of the notebook is one notch above the other competitive products available in the market. It is designed keeping in mind the rigors of extensive rough use that it will be undergoing. There are a lot of versions of the N10 which are available in the market. While some versions offer Windows Vista, other offer integrated graphics instead of dedicated graphics, and some might also offer a different hard drive. The only reason why different versions are available is to cater to different needs of the individuals ensuring a better usability and much wider reach in terms of customer base. It has a very thin shape, which propels the battery to stick out from the back of the notebook. It provides color options which are generally not available in other products.

The display screen is a 10.4’ TFT LED backlit WSVGA screen. It offers very bright and vibrant color display with better viewing angles compared to other notebooks. One can spend hours in front of the screens without actually troubling the eyes even a bit. There are a few drawbacks of the display screen though; one is that because of its vibrancy and bright nature, the screen gives out a lot of glare which can be annoying and uncomfortable at times. Secondly the screen resolution is low in comparison to some of the other available products commensurate to the price points it operates in.

It has quite a unique keyboard although the layout design is relatively different from the other notebooks but it is very user friendly and functional to operate. There are separate key available on the keyboard for accessing the dedicated graphics and wireless connectivity options.

The performance of the notebook is somewhat disappointing from the aspect of the frequent multi media users. The system despite having dedicated graphics and the Intel Atom platform at its boot disappoints while high definition multi media files are used. The system also fails to give an outstanding performance when the users try the gaming options. The output in terms of visual effects is just about average, something the users don’t normally like to associate this kind of a machine with.

Price: Approx. $550

ASUS G51VX NOTEBOOK REVIEW

An update to the previous G50 line of notebooks, the Asus G51VX is largely aimed at gamers. Prices start at $1049.

Specifications:
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (2GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Display: 15.6" TFT Widescreen display with LED backlighting (1366x768)
Memory: 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz System Memory
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M 1GB GDDR3 Memory
Hard Disk Drive: 320GB 7200RPM SATA Seagate Momentus Hard Drive
Weight: 7.3 lbs

Build and Design
Build quality is satisfactory. The machine is strong in all the right places and looks and feels solid. Design is a bit understated. Just about every component of this laptop can be upgraded, but you cannot change the processor or GPU without voiding the one-year warranty.

Screen and Speakers
The G51VX has an LED backlit display with 1366x768 pixels. The screen is bright enough to become viewable in a bright office setting. Viewing angles are good, but color saturation is still very poor. The panel itself is mediocre. Speaker quality is average; the speaker placement doesn’t improve the situation either.

Keyboard and Touchpad
The chiclet-style keyboard comes with an adjustable backlight feature. The keyboard does show a decent amount of flex, but it is comfortable to type on. You will also get used to it in no time. The touchpad is good. It shows good sensitivity; the buttons also feel right.

Performance
The G51VX comes with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor. While this processor is good for getting most tasks done, it seems to have difficulty handling some new games. The 320GB Seagate hard disk spinning at 7200 rpm considerably improves the performance of this notebook.

Ports and Features
Port selection seems adequate but some users may find their placement a bit odd. There is a VGA port, 4 USB ports, FireWire port, eSATA port, HDMI port, ExpressCard 54 slot, Ethernet port, headphone jack, microphone jack, a DVD+/-RW optical drive and media reader. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel integrated webcam and WiFI 5100 (a/b/g/n).

Battery
It seems that the G51VX isn’t built to be off the mains. At about 2 hours, the battery life is pretty average. But this is hardly surprising given the power hungry graphics and 7200rpm hard disk.

Heat and Noise
The cooling system of this laptop is somewhat poorly designed. The machine tends to heat up during heavy gaming, so you can’t keep it on your lap for long. Fortunately the heat doesn’t radiate too badly off the top surface of the laptop. Heat problems can be solved to a great extent by buying a cooling pad.

Conclusion
The best thing about this gaming notebook is indeed its accessible price point which starts at $1049. Performance is strictly OK. The GeForce GTX 260M GPU can handle most modern games, but the processor performance seems lacking in some aspects. If you can live this, you must definitely consider buying G51VX.

Pros:
Faster GPU
7200rpm hard disk
Backlit keyboard
Good port selection

Cons:
Tends to heat up
Poor battery life
Average processor performance
